12 Sessions Recommended
The Quantified Self service aligns your time usage with your stated intentions. We’ll identify strategies for tracking specific behaviors, then collect, visualize, and synthesize that information together.
Our first session will involve discussing and inventorying your life intentions, alongside identifying current distractions. We’ll then explore methods for creating digital touchpoints to track time dedicated to these intentions and to catch deviations.
Once data is gathered, we’ll either use built-in visualization tools or I’ll perform exploratory data analysis to develop clear visualizations, allowing us to understand the full picture over time and to foster greater conscious alignment of your time with your values. Finally, we’ll establish practices to help you adjust how your time is applied in daily life, ensuring you stay on track with your intentions.
Quantifying Myself
Around the time smartphones and wearables gained popularity, I recognized an opportunity to gain greater awareness about how I spent my time and whether I was living up to my ideals, simply by exploring the data I generated. In 2013, I began using Insight Timer to track my meditation sessions and became an early adopter of Rescuetime for monitoring all device activity.
By 2018, while pursuing my health data analytics degree, I decided to visualize all my collected data for a class project themed “My Digital Shadow.” Though the original poster board is gone, the visualizations (accessible via the provided link) clearly demonstrate how our digital data can illuminate our time expenditures.
The practice of self-tracking is a unique tool of the digital era that can significantly aid in our awakening. For me, it has been indispensable in identifying behavioral patterns that run counter to my growth and aspirations, and in tracking my success in reducing their recurrence. Because of the transformative impact and profound helpfulness of quantifying oneself, I’m now offering this as a service to benefit others.
