Are you ready to start living yoga? Join us every Monday and Thursday evening for an accessible 75 minutes of yogic exploration designed to reconnect you with the divinity that resides within and without. Each session is both a physical and educational exploration weaving together ancient and modern wisdom and practice. We’ll explore:
- Classical Yoga Philosophy
- The Chakra System and Energy Body: as a map for psychological and emotional development.
- Embodied Ecology: inquiring into the connection between your body (the microcosm) and the broader natural world and known universe (the macrocosm).
Embodying the Eight Limbs
Through a playful and perspicacious lens, we’ll dive into the Eight Limbs of Classical Yoga:
- Yama & Niyama: The ethical requisites for clear seeing. These simple inquiries for aspiring yogis have encouraged evolution of the spirit throughout the centuries. A pithy starting point for any practitioner.
- Asana & Pranayama (Body & Breath): Cultivate a more sensuous relationship with your felt experience. We’ll explore mindful movement and rhythmic, intentional breathing as a pathway to listening to the innate wisdom of your body.
- Pratyahara (Diving Inward): We’ll learn to collect our senses in the body to attune to our inner worlds.
- Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (union): We’ll gently ascend the final three limbs using practical techniques rooted in ancient wisdom texts and articulated with modern neuroscience to train heart and mind.
When: Thursdays, 5:15 PM – 6:30 PM
Focus: Tristana (breath guided movement), advanced practice, yoga philosophy
Instruction: Cultivating flow and focus, for experienced practitioners.
Yoga for Stability
This class is perfect for everyone, from absolute beginners to experienced practitioners looking to refine their alignment. We will focus on a breath-by-breath instructional approach to build strength, flexibility and stability. This class will build up from the basics to a blissful flow. We’ll combine elements of Pranayama (rhythmic breath) and Asana (posture) to introduce participants to the skills necessary to learn fundamental poses and alignment principles for safety, fun, and flexibility.
When: Mondays, 5:15 PM – 6:30 PM, beginning Monday Jan 26th
Focus: Flexibility, flow, and ease in everyday life
Instruction: Breath-by-breath approach, perfect for all levels.
