One hour long discovery session, free of charge

In my data science consulting, we’ll work together to find the right questions to enhance our understanding of the patterns in your data. Whether it’s business practices, health interventions, or audience behaviors, my goal is to provide insights that explain what’s working—and what’s not—in your mission.

I go beyond what’s simply present in the data to also consider what’s missing. This allows us to qualify our findings or develop a strategy for collecting more comprehensive data, leading to more informed decisions.

Whether it’s creating custom software, building visualizations, or automating business processes and reporting, I devise solutions that have a lasting impact. My aim is to leave you with generalizable insights, reproducible results, and operable tools you can use to answer your future questions.

My work sits at the intersection of consciousness, data, and personal development. For the first three decades of my life, my personal journey was an exploration of subjectivity through love, mystery, and curiosity. Though I embraced these qualities as guiding principles, my worldview was largely scientific materialist – there is an objective world out there and we are made up of its constituents, animated. As I meditated more regularly, this worldview began to crumble as I began to perceive its constructs directly. I started to understand that consciousness is not only immeasurable, but also unique to each individual.  This epistemological “crisis”  led me to seek new methods for making sense of my experiences. Ultimately, I was able to reconcile these two ways of perception by using mathematics and data to find an objective language for the patterns and phenomena I was observing.

With long-standing interests in health and spirituality, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Health Data Analytics. My coursework in computer science, statistics, and machine learning laid a solid foundation. Given my prior experience with technology, I adopted the R language and found an exhilarating new way to explore patterns in a world far beyond my own subjective experience, using data visualization and statistical analysis..

I dove deep into various data projects, both personal and professional. My web design background made R Shiny web applications a natural path to share my findings, making them interactive for others to explore. For the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing of Ohio, I helped streamline a sprawling Shiny app, simplifying business and reporting logic for shelters statewide. Then, in 2022-2024, at the startup Virga Labs, my team developed a state-of-the-art Colorado River management tool based on a framework for decision-making under deep uncertainty.

Today, my work is less about long hours poring over a computer and more about bringing the lessons from data science to life. The ability to sift through claims about reality and verify their veracity is a skill from my training that I use continuously. I apply it not just to data, but to the process of forming my own beliefs about the world. I evaluate and interpret data through fresh eyes and understand the relationship between humans and technology with more clarity and balance than before. Likewise, the developer’s mindset of breaking down processes into logical, step-by-step progressions helps me systematize routine aspects of life, from pantry inventory to plant watering schedules on our farm. Life is simpler now, but no less profound.
