Cultivating Subtle Perception
Offering
Together, we’ll explore your unique awareness of the subtle energy body—its origins, its characteristics as it manifests for you, and how to both observe and consciously interact with it.
Through moment-to-moment attention, we train introspective awareness, gaining clarity into the language of your unconscious as interpreted through patterns of energy movement and associated phenomena. Enhancing your understanding of and ability to volitionally interact with these fields adds considerable dimensionality to your conscious experience, opening pathways to planes of knowledge that are otherwise inaccessible.
I frame this exploration using Phillip Moffitt’s “Nine Bodies of Awakening.” This model provides an authentic, succinct introduction to this inner terrain and offers a shared language for clear communication.
If energy awareness is a feature of your life you’d like to explore more deeply, let’s connect to discuss the possibilities.
Background
I experienced a spontaneous awakening to the energy dimension of reality at 22. It happened by chance, upon literally waking from sleep after a novel combination of psychedelics and a serendipitous ceremony led by a woman known as “Magick.” That morning, a spiral of energy, like a clockwise halo, appeared around my head. It seemed to possess its own sentience, thoroughly confusing and fascinating me. This phenomenon sparked a deep inward journey, each discovery about the spiraling energy leading me further into introspective awareness. In retrospect, I feel fortunate to have stumbled upon such a playful invitation to profound inner exploration.
After conversations with friends and mentors, I learned this phenomenon might be a version of a “kundalini awakening.” While traditional descriptions of kundalini often differ from my specific experience, they generally describe a sudden, spontaneous shift in perception toward energy phenomena. Over the following moments, weeks, months, and now years, my nervous system and fundamental assumptions about reality underwent a dramatic transformation. Synchronicities began occurring with greater frequency, often traceable to salient moments where the energy, or my intentional engagement with it, resulted in a novel internal event.
For a time, integrating this new “sense”—due to its persistence in the foreground of my awareness—made it challenging to function within the predominantly scientific, materialist worldview and social sphere I occupied. Gradually, as I honed my ability to simultaneously attend to it and its external correspondences, it became more manageable. It began providing another layer of information about reality from which meaning could be derived.
The peak of this energetic learning curve came after about two years of intensive daily Ashtanga yoga practice. During a 10-day Vipassana retreat, I honed an ability to intentionally infuse any part of my body with prana. Five days into the retreat, I discovered how to weave sacred geometric patterns of energy, congruent with specific body parts, and maintain those structures through rhythmic breathing and intentional movement and visualization of energy. This level of sensitivity and harmony within produced profound vitality, ease, and clarity. This period was also remarkable as it was the first time I was able to intentionally share energy with others in a way they could consciously appreciate, likely due to our collective sensitivity after the retreat.
Through the years, this awareness has become a background phenomenon that can be brought to the foreground when advantageous. I believe that directly engaging with the energetic layers of reality can be an accelerated path to awakening. However, it can also be a significant distraction or diversion, depending on how it’s approached. For this reason, and due to the scarcity of detailed and wisdom-informed instructional material available today, I offer my experience to anyone who wants to explore the energy dimensions of life more deeply.
